In line with my unconventional life, I am a part time nanny for the next two weeks while my boss' child is awaiting summer camps.
Today the following conversation took place:
6 year old: "Can you do this?"
me: (not looking up) "What?"
6 year old: "This"
me: (looking up this time, only to see him sticking his middle finger up) "No, I can't," I lied.
6 year old: "It's really easy, let me show you how." And he proceeds to bend my hand into a fist, finger by finger, leaving the longest one sticking up.
me: "Wow - where did you learn how to do that?"
6 year old: (proudly) "My brother" (13 year old brother)
Earlier in the day:
6 year old: "OK Bushy:
me: "What did you call me?"
6 year old: "Bushy."
me: "Why?"
6 year old: "Because of your hair."
My lateral whiplash injury has resurfaced and I was unable to tend to my unruly head of curls this morning in the usual manner of blowdrying, flatironing. Resulting in a pretty interesting 'do' all day.

Memory Lane is Long
My Sandra. How I love you. How I miss you. How I can't wait to see you in 3 weeks. You now look completely different than this. I hope I recognize you ....
Sisters. Love you more than words can say. Mo, Ash, Me, Heid.
Cottage PEI summer 2004? I think.
Christmas Party I organized using Leah's house. Thanks Leah! Someday you can come to a party I've organized at my own house. Andrew, Mark, Me. Me - completely unaware this was a "be as weird as possible" pose.

Just a Little Trip Down Memory Lane
Looking around my computer at old pictures has yielded many giggles - omgoodness so many memories.
Here we are at the airport waiting for Ashley (obviously) to return from Ukraine and had a sign made for her and we all (all 4 of us !!) signed it. She was mortified.
Dad and Barry chatting (just before they moved). Love this picture.

Here and There
I've been very blog lazy.
I would apologize, but maybe its more of a relief to you .... jk.
As always, there are crazy things everyday that happen to me. But I get home at 11 most nights and don't feel like blogging them, then I forget. But its a rare Saturday night that I am home and doing mundane things like laundry and actually relaxing. So heres a few pics from the past couple of weeks:
At my old job, (yes, old job - I am a serial new employee), I was at a trade show at the military base in Edmonton. Interesting is the term I'd use to describe, as it encompasses many definitions. I had pretty crazy conversations that day. My co-worker Amy is finding something funny - hard to say what - seeing the things that were said to us that day!! I rolled my eyes more in those 5 hours than I have this year. It was so much fun.
Her and I went to Earls for dinner. Such a great night. It was gorgeous and hot out. It is a trendy place with lots of people in all states of dress and undress and so many different styles. It was alot of fun. We sat on the patio, had great conversation and this amazing drink. Raspberry Mango Margarita. Oh my. Delicious doesn't even begin ....
One forgetten picture from Banff. I went to check my teeth or eyebrows (or something equally important) in the visor mirror of Bree's car, and this is what greeted me! It was the first of many belly laughs that weekend (remember the kcar??). She's a NKOTB fan and Donnie's her favorite.
Since its winter year round in Calgary, fake tanning becomes a necessity for sanity. I was both repulsed and amused by the irony of this scenerio. Click on pic to see closer. A big gross hair right beside the "sanitized" sign. I don't go there anymore. I think hair is absolutely disgusting. Even my own. It totally skeeves me out.
I know this is totally dark, but this is my new job. Not babysitting, though I've been on duty twice this week, but as a Real Estate Assistant; and the office is in my bosses house. His little boy comes over everyday after school and this is how I entertained him the other day. Batman on YouTube. What? Choices were limited and I had a deadline. He's 6 and so cute. Here he is stuffing his little face!!! He's lots of fun.
I love these pictures. This is Nebiat. We work together on Saturday and Sundays at Rogers. Apparently it was his turn to buy lunch and he went next door to McDonalds and got me a salad as requested, and ..... a large fries. ?? He said I asked for it. He misunderstood my want of a large hot, salty, greasy, delicious order as an actual request.
He plays music from his Sirrus Radio account and since I hate R&B and it makes me kind of cranky (seriously - Rhianna? ugh! Usher? Can't deal. The list is endless), he switched to Reggae. So here he is dancing (like nobody's watching) and doing it well, and eating the smelliest, baddest for you ever, white trash food (let's face it). It was so cute I had to take his photo.

Ummmm, thats about it.
I'm just kickin it here in Calgary, settled in, really liking it and having a blast. Theres always something silly happening, good things, bad things, better things. I am amazed everyday by the caliber of people I've met here. My roommate Maria has really gone extra steps to make me love it. She's a spectacular individual. The world needs more Marias.
Oh! Weirdest - so random. My old Rogers co-worker from Halifax days walked into my store the other night. We both took a second and said at the same time "Le-annnne"? She is also Leanne Macdonald - but she is 5'1 and Asian. It was great to see her again. She's super cute and funny.
And .... thats really it.
Cheers,
L.
