A Rainy Christmas Parade

Can you believe how big she is getting?
She is losing and getting new teeth.
Even though it was torrential rains, she insisted on going to the parade.
Hot chocolate in Tim Hortons Thermos firmly in hand.
(welllllll, mostly in mine .... she quickly tired of holding it)
Bro didn't want to go. They watched it from the store's upstairs window.
We had a blast.

We All Need a Shoulder to Cry on Sometimes

Little Miss on the phone with Adam, who was
comforting her after being ignored (or something equally tramautic)
by her brother and the M twins.
She was crying as Adam was calling me, so I answered and told him
to cheer her up.
It worked.
She flashed her toothy grin shortly after this was taken.
Love her to the moon and back

Shout Out to the 'Rents

Gotta make a public announcement.

It's totally long over-due.

I want to thank my parents for their particpation in my moving to Alberta.
From the very beginning they were there for me without question.
Both there to greet me at the airport.
Both there to show me around the city.
Both there to console me while I had break downs.
Both there to enourage me while I grappled with the magnitude of my move and change in lifestyle.
Mom to take me shopping and to dinner at Moxie's.
Dad to sit me down at the coffee shop armed with pen, paper, addresses and a new attitude.
Mom to send me care packages filled with long johns and chocolate.
Dad and I to be in the right place at the right time, with a 3 minute window - to get the job I now hold.
Lastly, both of them to love me through my sad days, bad days and bad moods.
I couldn't have done this move without you.

And I want the world to know.

Having said that, I don't want to discount the role my siblings have played in this either. I am reliant on your prayers and emails to keep going. The life I live up there isn't all sunshine and lollipops and every little bit of communication helps.
xo to you all.
L.

Update to the Last Post

Ummmmm .... I've been duped.
Had.
Punk'd.
Snowed.

I'm way too old to be this naive.
Anyway.
Remember the cell phone/packer story?
Well. Those sweet little innocent PEI boys?
Lied.
Out and out lied to me.
Well one did. Labourer Number One?
The sob story? Ex-GF cheated on him after 6 years of dating? Wouldn't stop texting/callling him?
Total and utter bold-faced lies.
Labourer Number Two was on the flight home with me.
Waiting in line to check in, I told him that I'd rec'd a pretty nasty email about that story.
That's the time he chose to tell me that ENTIRE story was a lie.
Labourer Number One has never had a real girlfriend. That the phone had been given to him by a waitress at *insert questionable entertainment bar* the night before.
Little Brats.
But if you read the story again, you'll see where Number Two had actually told me that they'd "found it". So, he WAS telling the truth.
I feel terrible now though.
Some poor innoncent person (male, presumably, by the model used as the wallpaper of the device) doesn't know where his phone is.
Though .... the fact that he was at the above mentioned establishment, probably means he doesn't remember much anyway ........
So thats all folks.
Just another day working with a bunch of bored boys.
Now the fun part is thinking of revenge ....

Just a Quick Little Story

The other day as I was sitting (for 8 hours straight) in my Packer, and one of the little labourers ( I call them little because they are all under 23 years old !) came over and said "Will you do me a favor"?

He is holding his cell phone up to me.
I said "Sure, what is it"?
He: Will you run over my cell phone with the Packer"?
Me: "No". Why?
He: "Just run over it for me. Pllllllllease"
Me: "Why, is your ex-girlfriend texting you non-stop"?
He: (looking quite shocked) "Yeahhhh, how did you know"?
Me: "I'm a girl. I just assumed."
He: "Yeah", (goes on to tell his story)
Other Labourer coming up behind other Little Labourer (BOTH from Cornwall, PE): "We just found this phone".
Me: "Are you serious?? I'm not going to run over a random phone. Show it to me".
First Labourer: "No, its my phone".
Me: "Lets see it".
I open it and see a rather risque picture on the screen. with Maxim enscribed in the corner.
Me: "Well, if its your phone, how did my picture get on the front of it"?
Them (in unison) "SHUT UP. THATS NOT YOU. (grabbing phone from me) "If you looked like that, you wouldn't be working here!"
Me: "What's THAT supposed to mean?"
First Labourer as Second slips away with his shovel swinging: " Uh, um ,,, I didn't ...."
Me (good natured): "Yeah, probably not the right thing to say .... " "Come back in 10 minutes, if you still want me to run over it, I will."
Him: "Promise?"
Me: "Promise.
9 minutes pass. First Labourer comes marching back up.
Him "Now, I want a SHOW. I want full vibe, full power"
Me: Sign this waiver first (as a foreman's son, I wanted to backlash from this inappropriate action)

He signed the handwritten promise not to tell on me (essentially!)

I drove over his cell phone to the now encircling audience of labourers laughing their heads off.

He thanked me and the next morning when he saw me, he said "Hey! I didn't get any annoying phone calls or text messages last night."

All in a day's work!

Reading to Handley

Handley LOOOOVES to be read to. I LOOOOVE reading to kids.
Its lets me be a kid for a couple of minutes, over-animating the charactors,
using voices that don't really exist and generally being goofy.
Kids usually love it ....
And what I love about Handley is that he asks intelligent questions at the end.
Very imaginative and of course, Auntie Lelann comes up with some far-fetched
answer just to further warp ...... (no worse than their father would do ... :)

I just love this picture of him. He is such a precious little boy.
I wish everyone could meet him. He has the sweetest smile,
the biggest dimples and loves to cuddle.
I miss him and Marilu so much.
Someday I hope we all live a little closer to each other.

My Humble Abode

Well, my new kicks first! Aren't they pretty??

Cute magnet Stephanie gave me .... made me tear up a little.
Its on the only mirror in the room.

View from my bed, looking left. (look right and you'll see the wall)
I DO live in a 8 x 12 room .... basically the size of the upstairs bathroom
in my parents house!

View from the door.

At the door, looking left (are you claustorphobic yet?)
See my tv? Look again. You might miss it.
Please note how out of place my Coach bag looks.
